Wedding photography deliverables: what's standard in 2026, what you should expect, and the questions to ask. From a Derbyshire wedding photographer.
Every wedding photographer promises 'beautiful photos'. Few explain exactly what you'll receive, when, and in what format. Here is the standard 2026 deliverables package, the questions to ask, and the things that should be a red flag.

What every wedding photographer should deliver
Five things: (1) a private online gallery (password-protected), (2) a USB or digital download of the high-resolution images, (3) full printing rights, (4) a typical delivery time of 4-6 weeks for a full day, (5) a written contract that specifies all of the above. If a photographer doesn't deliver all five, look elsewhere.

What's a 'standard' number of images in 2026
For a full day: 400-700 edited images. For a half day: 200-400. For an elopement (2-4 hours): 100-250. The exact number depends on the photographer's style and the day's events, but anything significantly below or above these numbers should be questioned.

The difference between 'edited' and 'RAW'
'Edited' means the photographer has applied their full editing workflow: color grading, exposure correction, cropping, retouching. 'RAW' means the unedited camera files. A good photographer delivers edited JPGs, not RAW files. RAW files are not designed to be viewed or printed; they require a specific workflow to look right.
What's NOT standard but should be
Three things: (1) high-resolution files (not just web-resolution), (2) a written delivery time guarantee (with consequences if missed), (3) a money-back clause for genuine dissatisfaction. The best photographers offer all three. Most do not. Ask.
Red flags to avoid
Five: (1) no written contract, (2) delivery time of '3-4 months' (too long), (3) watermarked images, (4) extra fees for printing rights, (5) a 'sneak peek' of 5-10 images as the only 'deliverable'.
