Weekly 0083

Intro

This week was a blend of mentoring, migrations, and midnight debugging sessions. I kicked off a new customer mentoring engagement, tackled a Perforce-to-GitHub migration head-on (with all the script-induced headaches that entails), and even found time to connect with the Microsoft partner community. Spoiler: coffee consumption hit record highs. โ˜•๐Ÿ’ฅ

Monday

I started the week by drafting a concept document for a customer's Perforce to GitHub Enterprise migration. Itโ€™s still a work-in-progress, but it felt good to lay the foundation. Itโ€™s one of those tasks where you realize halfway through that explaining the โ€œwhyโ€ is often harder than the โ€œhow.โ€

Mood of the day: โœ๏ธ Focused but cautiously optimistic

Tuesday

The day kicked off with my first official mentoring call with a customer interested in GitHub Enterprise. I had some doubts about my impact during the call, but the client reassured me it was very helpful. Impostor syndrome: 0, positive feedback: 1 ๐Ÿ˜Š

In the afternoon, I attended an IAMCP (International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners) meetup in Luzern. Great people, great energy, and a few promising new connections.

Mood of the day: ๐Ÿค Inspired (and mildly surprised in a good way)

Thursday

Big day! I delivered my first GitHub Advanced Security training. Although it was my first time handling this topic, I felt quite comfortableโ€”turns out, deep dives into documentation and past pain pay off.

Later, I continued working on the migration app. We switched from scripting to a C# console app for better control. I ended up debugging into the nightโ€”trying to make external PowerShell scripts play nice with parallel tasks. ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Mood of the day: ๐Ÿง  Mentally drained but weirdly proud

Friday

Back in the trenches with the migration app. The good news? I finally resolved about 80% of the nasty bugs that were haunting the console integration. It's slowly turning from a Frankenstein monster into a usable tool.

Mood of the day: ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Progress feels good (but still a bit tired)

P.S. I break things so you donโ€™t have to. ๐Ÿ˜‰
