Well, I'm officially out of ideas this week, so I thought why not revisit a previous edition? I absolutely love chill music. Lo-fi hip hop beats were my jam during COVID and really kicked off a whole exploration into music with chill vibes. In any case, I really wanna hear what kinda music you all like to chill to. Whether you tend to throw on lofi instrumental stuff or ya like to kick back and relax to some heavy death metal... whatever floats your boat and soothes your soul, I wanna hear it.
How we do
In this weekly series, folks can chime in and drop links to whatever it is they've been listening to recently + browse others suggestions.
If you like talking about music, consider following the org #music discussions for more conversations about music!
Let's hear those chill-vibey tunes? Note: you can embed a link to your song on most platforms using the following syntax {% embed https://... %}

I look forward to listening to y'all's suggestions! 👂 🎶

I'm never get tired of DJ SHOTA Mellow Works, so let me re-recommending this to y'all. I'm still waiting for his Mellow Works 4. Maybe if he get enough recognition, he would do it eventually.
Actually he's very active in his instagram reels, but why he's not doing it in youtube short too...
YESSS!!
I keep forgetting to go back to DJ SHOTA, thank you for the reminder. Pretty sure you've showed me a tune or 2 of his back in the day. I love this dude... I'm gonna have to give him some of my money, haha. Independent artists like this need our support.
Oooo when The Light kicked in, I just couldn't help but start smiling... I think that's one of my favorite hip hop tunes of all time. It's a Dilla beat and damn is SHOTA doing it justice with tasty little scratches and other mixing magic.
There's a super chill, mostly instrumental band called Khruangbin that I really dig:
Also, if you like Khruangbin, there's a YouTuber out there called Mol that puts together some incredible playlists including a whole series of playlists called Khruangbin Vibes that actually don't include the band Khruangbin, but instead include a variety of Khruangbin-esque tunes from different artists... can't tell you how many cool tunes I've discovered from tuning into these mixes.
Here's a sample one for y'all... give it a spin, you won't regret it:
Yes! You really did diggin' into Khruangbin, Michael. Instrumental soul-psychedelic is a new recommendation domain to those who likes listening to instrumental music.
Awww yeah, Dendi! You and I definitely see eye to eye (or rather hear ear to ear, haha) on a lotta music. I'm right there with ya on the instrumental soul-psychedelic side.
Two of my recent faves in this regard have been, though I'd also say they're heavy on the funk:
Give those a listen and lemme know what ya think!
I give listening to Flamingosis right now, starting from "Flamingosis - A Groovy Thing (Full Album)". Based on my listening sample, they're mostly instrumental funk and good enough as music for work/study. Let's see if I found one that caught my sense 😃
Oooo yeah, I think that'll be a good one by'em. I end up on "Bright Moments" all the time and love that album... it's one that just randomly showed up in my feed one day and I'm sooooo happy it did, haha.
Well, Bright Moments album sounds better to my ears. I like the 'Next to you' track.
Listen OPPENHEIMER Full Album On Spotify Out Of The World!!!
"Can you hear the music" tops the album the way it makes you feel adrenaline rush
Yeah every song of oppenheimer
Also interstellars
A couple of chill tracks I've been listening to lately:
Plus not quite as chill, but this one has been in rotation after I heard of Vulfpeck from a funk edition way back on here!
Awww yeah!! You still got it, Ariel. 🙌
"Sunflowers" is so so good. It's classy, groovy, and just the right amount of strange & unpredictable. Gonna add this to my regular rotation.
And wow, I'm also digging this Africa Express track. Super chill. I really love this kinda vocal harmonizing.
Lastly, lol, this track by Vulfpeck is absolutely ridiculous... I absolutely love that band. I'm really glad ya stepped outside the chill box for this one.
Listening to the boygenius album right now— this weekend I finally watched the film! I had never seen it before, here it is if anyone wants to watch:
Wow! I finally tuned in and I really love this.
It's so cool how they tied these three tracks together with the film. I'm really loving the vocal harmonies too. What an awesome group making really amazing music!
YES! Yay I am happy you saw this!
I suggest that you try it @rachelfazio. It's really a great film. Trust me, you will love it!
I recorded a work with me session and I've been using it as a pomodoro timer 😆
Oooo very chill! I love a good laid back jazz trio — piano, drums, and upright bass. It always makes me think about the soundtrack from "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and that's a good thing.
Also, love the appearance from the cat, haha! 😸
By the way, meant to say, I like this concept. It's like a virtual window into your office. I get to work alongside ya for a wee bit.
Thank you Michael! I've been planning to record a longer session for a while as well :D
Usually this guy, almost always puts me in a deep work state:
Ooooo I've not seen this guy before! I'm less than a minute in and can already tell I'm going to like it. Good one, Paul! 🙌
Another one from me.
Oh cool, Artak! I like this a lot. The singer's voice has a really cool deep register. The whole tune has this sorta somber feeling, but then when the drums, flute, and everything else kick in, it really picks up!
Side note, when the drawing of the man in the music video moved, I was stunned... totally didn't realize it wasn't just a still image, lol.
Folk music always calms me down

Oooo yeah!! This is fantastic, Bruno.
It's really cool to hear the different types of folk music around the world... I'm trying to place the influences here and having a little trouble. Had to go and look up the artist, The Moon and the Nightspirit to read a little about them. Cool to learn that they're Hungarian!
It might be cliche at this point but I can't stop listening to this
Oh heck yeah, Thomas! I really love synthwave and it's cool to see this on Lofi Girl's channel. I didn't realize they did a synthwave focused one of these. Right now vhsdreams - "Solar Wind" is playing and I'm def digging it. Good suggestion!
Awesome! Yeah they added a Synthwave Boy a few months back as part of "The Lore" of LoFi Girl. He's the light in her window you could sometimes see in the videos. It's such good music to just shut the world out and focus.
Wow! I had no idea about the lore. That's a fun little easter egg.
If you enjoy chill pool side vibes while you work or lounge, then Tulum Mornings might just do it for you.
