A few weeks back I dropped a post called "Let's help each other find good horror movies!" and had a great convo with @giulio who brought up the idea of horror music videos. Now that it's Halloween, I figured it'd be fun for us to share some scary tunes and music videos! So, feel free to share away below but if your video contains any violence, do us a courtesy and just please give a heads up! 🔪
How we do
In this weekly series, folks can chime in and drop links to whatever it is they've been listening to recently + browse others suggestions.
If you like talking about music, consider following the org #music discussions for more conversations about music!
Lemme hear your favorite scary, creepy music! Share some horror music videos. Anything Halloween related is fair game! Note: you can embed a link to your song using the following syntax {% embed https://... %}
. This should work for most common platforms!
I look forward to listening to y'all's suggestions! 🎃 🎶

I'd be amiss not to include this classic:
Awww yeah!! Very on theme and absolutely a classic. 😀
Lotsa folks know about MJ's Thriller music video, but not as many folks are aware of the short film, Ghosts. If you're a fan of Michael Jackson, you gotta check it out!
I hear you Michael, got some stuff to share, hope to please some curious ear out there. 😎
For the few souls that still like the Horror Rock style (or even grimmer stuff), I picked up a few that matches the event 😁.
Death SS - Rock 'N' Roll Armageddon
Lordi - Would You Love a Monsterman?
Powerwolf
Harakiri for the sky
I drifted from the classic horror here, for something more contemporary.
Don't let yourself fooled by the early parts... the things will come to a proper creep.
Stormlord - I am Legend
This one is a bit more visually grotesque, so I won't embed it
Stormlord - I am legend (youtube)
You probably guessed right: this song is inspired to the famous Matheson tale.
🫀
All love for the brave that could reach down there 😎
Just tuned into the top one, Death SS and this is dope!
It feels a little bit old school to me in some ways which ain't a bad thing... maybe it's the face paint or the fact that they call it rock'n'roll, but I get KISS vibes from it.
Sure there is a connection there! 👍🏻
KISS opened the path, even if Death SS formed more during the Mercyful Fate/King Diamond period (1976~77)
Face/corpse paint still exists for many bands, in live gigs, yet with Death SS there is also another connection with panic theater and stuff like that.
Band members can perform in monster costumes, as you can find with Lordi video or other bands like GWAR.
Woot! I knew you'd come on in here and pack a heavy punch. Much appreciated!! 🙌
I'm gonna comb through these this week and will let ya know my thoughts.
Alright, so my first suggestion is gonna be Tom Waits... dude's ragged voice and grimey, twisted subject matter are very fitting for Halloween.
I personally love Rain Dogs and would highly recommend listening it through start to finish. However, I wanna recommend "What's He Building" from Mule Variations which is more poetry + sound effects than music, but it's just amazing:
Anywho, eager to hear if there are any other Waits fans in here!
I LOVE Tom Waits. He's a really divisive artist.
In my experience, people are generally totally on board with his music or not at all.
He also plays the prospector in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, and I was amazed by how well he performed that role.
WOOT! 😀
So siked to meet another Waits fan, haha! 🙌 You're absolutely right that he's a hate it or love it kinda artist.
And what?!?! 🤯 I saw The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (great movie btw), but definitely didn't catch that. Funny thing, I remember loving that performance and thinking that it was Nick Nolte. I'm so happy to hear that was Tom Waits!
I really like the relationship between Tom Waits and Keith Richards. I remember stumbling upon this poem that Tom Waits wrote about Keith Richards. I bet you'll dig it — unmistakenly Waitsian.
Supersexy Slasher Sounds
A compilation of horror-esque tracks, with all proceeds going to a charity for missing indigenous women.
Ohhh rad! This is such an awesome idea for a charity!! Also, I'm tuning in now and the songs are pretty badass.
I really like playing music for trick or treaters as they come up... if I see it's older kids, I'll flip it over to the Halloween theme song, but if it's young ones coming up, I'll typically pop on something like Thriller or Werewolves of London to kinda lighten the mood. So yeah, just to say that this might fit my older kids Halloween playlist pretty well, haha.
As far as horror music videos go, how about The Shoes "Time to Dance"?
Without giving too much away, I do wanna give y'all a heads up that this music video is very violent.
I don't know what to share here other than Rockwell's "Somebody's watching me" , Michael Jackson's "Thriller", Men at Work's "Who can it be now?" and Ghostbuster.
Give me idea what halloween/horror music is 😂
Hahaha! The theme definitely narrows your choices this week.
But hey, those are all fitting suggestions as far as I'm concerned. 🎃
Funny thing, I've been tuning into an awesome YouTube channel called Digging the Greats (it's a play on "digging the crates" — djs digging through crates for records) and this dude remixes "Thriller" with "Somebody's Watching Me" + "Ghostbusters Theme Song" + "Stranger Things theme" + a surprise song. As a fellow music love, I think you'll enjoy it! Check it out:
I've been listening to Ill-Advised Records channel through most of October. Some great mixes in there that are really atmospheric 🎃
Very nice! There's a lofi playlist for everything, haha. 😀 But forreal, these are some pretty awesome beats.
INSANE
Oooo appreciate the suggestion, Sakshi!
