We've just launched Backyard Quest, a new app built for young explorers. It's designed for children aged 3 to 8, encouraging them to step outside and discover their surroundings.
The core experience involves the child walking to unlock clues, using the phone's built-in step counter. They also use the camera to identify real-world objects, with the app recognizing common items directly on the device. This approach means there's no location tracking involved, no data is uploaded, and crucially, no child data is collected.
We built Backyard Quest with privacy and accessibility in mind. It's COPPA-clean, functions as an offline-first application, and contains no advertisements or subscription fees. The goal is to provide a simple, engaging way for kids to interact with the world around them.
