I've just shipped the PDF Indexer & Search Tool.
This tool is designed to help users manage and search through collections of PDF documents. Its core function involves scanning a specified folder on your system. For each PDF found, it extracts the textual content.
This extracted text is then stored in a lightweight SQLite database. The benefit of this approach is that it enables quick keyword-based searches across all indexed documents. Instead of opening each PDF individually to find specific information, you can use the tool to query the entire database.
I built this with use cases like physical record management in mind. For example, if you have a collection of scanned therapist test results or other similar documents, this tool can help you quickly locate specific information within them without manual sifting. It provides a way to make large sets of static PDF data searchable.
